7 years old!

Hayden is 7! He is growing up way too fast. I let him choose his party this year so we ended up at Boondocks with 12 kids. It was a lot of fun, but pretty stressful for the adults. It's hard to keep track of that many young ones. Maybe next year it will just be at the house again, or maybe somewhere a little more contained.

Baseball is over.

Spring baseball is over. Hayden really likes the trophy this time. He decided to try soccer this fall instead but is nervous because they keep score. I think he will do fine. Baseball is a little too slow paced for him and he just messes around and doesn't pay attention. I hope soccer will keep his attention better. I cant believe the year is almost halfway over already!

I did it!

I finished the half marathon! 13.1 miles! It was tough and I took longer than I thought I would, but I finished it. My GPS on my phone time was 2:35:17, the official times have not been posted yet. If they got any good shots I might buy one just to have it as a momento. Hayden wants my medal, but I told him I worked really hard for it and he will just have to run one someday. My brother, Luke, also ran and did it an hour faster than me...... also the winner of the full marathon, 26.2 miles, passed me on the last mile. :) I think this will be my first and last time running over 10k, but I am proud of myself for doing it.

So annoyed!

I lost an entire week of training to stupid bronchitis, and now I feel like I am starting over. I ran 2 miles last night, just to see how it went, and I was sooooo exhausted. I guess laying in bed for four days does that. I just need to work my way back up to 10 miles at least before the Half in 3 weeks...... I can do it, right?

Sick.... are you kidding me?

So I have missed one run for my training, and will most likely skip tomorrow as well. It was supposed to be 10 miles but I think I have bronchitis and really need to just get better. It is almost April, why am I sick? I don't get sick often, and when I do it is usually January with the inversion crap in the air. I am hoping if I rest all weekend I can jump back in next week. I hate being sick. :(

New shoes!

I think it is time for some new running shoes. I have some knee pain that I have been researching and I think I figured out my problem's. I need to stretch and warm up, I tend to just go out and start running full speed, and I need to buy some "good" shoes. I haven't been buying the worst kind of shoes, but I have been bargain shopping. I have narrowed it down to Nike or Avia.
I do favor Nike colors. :)
I am half way done with my training for the 1/2 marathon and never missed a day, even on vacation! I might actually pull this off!

Training starts!

Tomorrow my training for the SLC 1/2 Marathon begins! 10 weeks, no soda, no sweets and lots of carbs! YAY! I am running 3-4 miles during the week and starting with 4 miles on Sunday and adding a mile a week until I can do 10! I am excited and nervous, but I can do it!

I am a little nervous about the 1/2 marathon. I need to get over my mental block that 13.1 miles is way too far to run all at once. My problem is that my knee starts hurting on mile 3 and I really don't know how much further I can run without injuring something. I am starting slow, trying to make it past 3 miles without any pain, but I have to start training in February and it is right around the corner. I have read that it is just your brain telling your body you can't do it and you have to push past it, but my brain is winning. ( I think it's smarter than me) I will keep trying and I will do the 13.1 miles, I just hope I don't end up walking the last 10 miles. ;)

Resolution time

This year I am training for the SLC 1/2 marathon in April. I just want to finish, don't care how long it takes. I also want to try and read 100 books, any books over 100 pages count. I also need to read with Hayden EVERY NIGHT! I have been a huge slacker on this and Hayden is the one I am hurting, so I gotta do better. I also don't want to make any "weight loss" goals, just eat healthy and work out more. I want to be a happier person and my body image is a big part of that. No more numbers game, I just want to be healthy and happy.

So, to sum it up:
Train for 1/2 marathon
Read with Hayden every night
Finish 100 books in 2012
Be happy and healthy
